Treasures of the Snow

Well, yesterday we finally got our snow, 3 inches, but it started to sleet later on so we decided just to do our sledding today since it was calling for more snow. But of all things, when we woke up this morning, we found it not to be snowing, but raining. And thus it continued for most of the day, leaving us with , as Katie says," the slushiest, nastiest mush ever seen in the heavens above, the earth beneath, or the waters under the earth."

Our house looks much better with snow in the yard than huge puddles.

Several years ago Aunt Audrey gave us a First State Quarters of the United States Collectors Map. It's taken us many years of hunting through the cash register during blueberry season to find them all. But today we finally finished it. A friend gave us Hawaii this afternoon.

We went bowling this afternoon. I got beat by a 7 year old. 101 to 84. I was utterly embarassed. And then Ben had to come rub it in that he had gotten 120 pionts in his game. I do much better with soccer balls than bowling balls. Oh well.-Hannah

Guess what! More Basketball

Not much has been going on since Thursday, other than basketball, and more basketball. It seems to be all we do these days. Nathan remains undefeated. Ben lost his game and I lost mine on Saturday. It was a very fun game to watch. We were ahead most of the game and probably would have won if one of our really good players hadn't fouled out. And even worse is that most of her fouls went to a girl on the other team who never misses a foul shot. It was a pretty close game and we played well. Today, however, was a different story. We won!!! It's our first win and I don't think it will be our last. Katie keeps on reminding me that it's not a real win since the other team only had four players show up. (And unlike in soccer you don't borrow players from the other team.) But, it was a real game, against a real team, so we really did win.

Last Monday we got a really good snow and we invited our pastor to go sledding with us. We went over to Grandaddy's farm and had a blast! We were there for a long time. Unfortunately, Katie didn't bring the camera so you can't see the look on Ben's face when Pastor Phil beat him in a race. And I can hardly wait 'cause they're calling for more snow this week.:)

Fifteen

Oh My Word!! Hannah's fifteen, today is her birthday, now she's old enough to get a drivers permit. What a scary thought!

We had a fruit platter for breakfast, an all time favorite.

We had her birthday supper- lasagna, salad & cheesecake with raspberry-chocolate sauce. Then we played "dig", a game like scrabble. She got cross word puzzles (which she loves), so she'll keep me awake at night figuring them out.

It is so extremely boring...

when everyone in the family has been sick except me. And whenever Daddy's sick he locks himslef in the parlour, which is where the computer is, which is why I haven't written. They all had the flu or something and I got left out. Katie recovered pretty quickly, but its still been very boring around here.

More basketball games yesterday. Nathan is still undefeated. Ben and I lost.

Ben is over at a friends house tonight. They'll probably stay up until midnight playing legos. And that's most of all that happened this week. Aside from running around getting tea for Mama, orange juice for the boys and cough drops Daddy. -Hannah

Basketball

This is my game. I'm #32 in purple. I don't remember the score, but it wasn't so good.

Ben's game was alot of fun. They didn't start out so well in the first half, but by the second half they had caught up and were even ahead. The game went into overtime, but in the last 2 seconds the other team scored making the final score 16 - 14. Ben is # 20 in white. #10 in the yellow jersey scored the winning basket. Ben scored 12 points.

This is Nathan's game. He is # 16 in the light blue jersey with his hands up. They won their game.

"Getting an 1/8 in. of Snow

Is like winning 10 cents in the lottery." That's not my line, it came from a Calvin & Hobbes book. But it is true. The warm weather left over night and it got bitter cold, with lots of wind. The wind blew all the snow away before us kids could put it to good use.

Last Thursday we took off from school and took a walk over at Granddaddy's farm. I think it's the most beautiful place in the world. Top left is the barn and some other out buildings. The others are just scenery from our walk.

Today we had our first basketball games. Nathan won his. Ben lost by a little and I'm not sure how much I lost by. But it doesn't matter in my opinion.-Hannah
